My wonderful school trip in Australia

25 janvier 2015

Sydney

From the 17th to the 23th of november we were staying in Sydney the capital of new south wales . I think that it was the most anticipated part of the trip . Some students went on this trip just to see this marvellous city and I understand them because I must admit that sydney is the city to sightsee.

  • On our first day we went to the beach and we learnt surfing. In just a few hours I became the new Adrian Buchan (famous australian surfer) . I even won the surfing contest organized by our instructor. Ok I'm lying , I was terrible at it even the worst at it despite this I had a great time !
  • The folowing day we visited the Sydney nature park . Ok you are thinking that zoos are just for kids . Well I don't care and I'm proud to say "even though I'm 16 I love to go to the zoo". Moreover there weren't  boring animals that we have always known like pigs but animals that we couldn't see in europe such as wombats,Dingos, sugar Gliders . Be honest do you even know what a wombat is ? Of course you don't, that's why australians wildlife is so amazing.
  • Then on the 19th our sadistic teachers thought that it was a good idea to not only  see the harbor bridge called "the coat hanger" but to climb it . I just couldn't do it because It's one of my greatest fears . When I was about 5 I wasn't able to jump from a bench so It's clearly impossible that I climb the coat hanger .
  • On the 20th we dived with sharks !! It was the most thrilling experience I have ever done because I was admiring and afraid of these creatures at the same time. A lot of people were not enough courageous  to dive among sharks (ok I didn't climb the coat hanger) so I was really proud of me !(maybe a little too much)
  • On the 21th we visited the famous Sydney opera house . I must admit that the Sydney opera house is a real architectural miracle with it's 1000 rooms and 300 corridors . After visting the building we saw a musical wich was great ! I was quite suprised because usually I don't like this type of show.
  • Then on the 22nd we did the Bondi to Coogee Costal Walk . It was a very long walk (aproximately 3h30 ) but   the landscapes were breathtacking ! There was also a swiming pool near the cliffs and restaurants.

Canberra

From the 24th to the 30th of november we were staying in Canberra the capital of Australia. Our teachers told us that the name of the city come from the Aboriginal word Kamberra which means "meeting place " . ( I hoped to meet new people but It never hapened ) .We learned also that Canberra was an ancient  Indigenous Ngunnawal people land .

  • From the 25th to the 26th we went to the Australian War Memorial unfortunately we couldn't see everything because there were so much things to do there but what we saw on our tour was great! I particularly enjoyed to see warplanes which were just gigantic but our tour was quite moving too when we saw the wall where there was writing all the names of the fallen australian soldiers.
  • Then we spent 2 days  in the center of Camberra . We went shopping in order to buy souvenirs to our relatives. I bought a pretty little hand bag with "I love Canberra" writing on it to my sister (ok I know it's a crappy gift) , a Brumbies' rugby ball (Canberra's rugby team) to my father and a koala hat to my mother .  My friends and I pretended to be students from the french institute of research and development and we asked stupid questions to Australian people.(#bestmomentofthetrip).
  •  On the 29th we walked to the top of the Mount Ainslie to see a stunning view of Canberra wich impressed everyone.
  • On our last day in australia we visited the national gallery of australia where there are more than 100 000 pieces . We could see aboriginal artistic works  which were
interesting because I have never seen something similar so far .

Bye Australia :(

On the first of december I had to come back home in Ablis . Even though I was excited  to see my family after this 3 weeks school trip , I must admit that leaving australia was very hard . On that day I kept thinking of all the cool stuffs I had done and all the unbelievable moments I had spend. I must say that I will always remember this awesome trip! Yeah I know it's a little stereotyped but it's how i feel about it . Fortunately we could see films like Interstellar and Hungergames during the airplane trip , it helped me a little to forget australia .
